Kaiser Permanente’s Risant Health Moves Into Oklahoma With a Deal for INTEGRIS Health

Risant Health, the nonprofit created by Kaiser Permanente to acquire community health systems, has signed a definitive agreement to add INTEGRIS Health, Oklahoma’s largest nonprofit system. It would be Risant’s third system, after Pennsylvania’s Geisinger in 2024 and North Carolina’s Cone Health later that year.

The deal

  • INTEGRIS: 10 acute-care hospitals, 10 specialty hospitals, plus clinics and outpatient sites, with about 13,000 employees.
  • Terms: financial terms weren’t disclosed, and no closing timeline was given. Regulators still have to approve.
  • What stays: INTEGRIS CEO Timothy Pehrson says the name, Oklahoma City headquarters, board, leadership and medical staff remain. Planned investments include Epic, cybersecurity and clinical technology.

Why Risant picked INTEGRIS

Risant is not buying turnarounds. Its leadership has said it looks for systems that can stand on their own financially, and INTEGRIS fits: S&P rates it “A-” with a stable outlook, citing improving operations and cash flow. What Risant brings is scale, technology and Kaiser’s value-based care model, in a state the Commonwealth Fund ranks 49th for health system performance.

The bigger trend

Kaufman Hall counted 56 announced hospital deals in the first three quarters of 2026, already more than the 46 in all of 2025. Strong systems are partnering to fill capability gaps, especially in technology and value-based care, while Medicaid cuts loom in 2027.

The Paxton-Digital take

For patients, the test is whether Kaiser-style coordinated care actually reaches Oklahoma communities, or whether this is mainly a balance-sheet combination. Watch for the first concrete changes: shared electronic records, new insurance products, and how INTEGRIS’s rural sites are treated.
